As REALTORS®, we pledge to abide by a strict code of ethics that safeguards our clients and the public. The Code of Ethics of the National Association of REALTORS® imposes duties above and in addition to those governed by law or regulation, and apply only to real estate licensees who are also REALTOR® members.
Filing an Ethics Complaint:
Only REALTORS® are subject to the Code of Ethics of the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR). If you have questions about filing a Code of Ethics complaint, please contact the Oklahoma Association of REALTORS® (OAR) at 405-848-9944. If the real estate licensee you are dealing with is not a REALTOR®, your options will include contacting the Oklahoma Real Estate Commission (OREC) at 405.521.3387.
OAR often receives questions related to filing a complaint with the Oklahoma Real Estate Commission (OREC), Oklahoma real estate laws and regulations, licensure, annual continuing education requirements and questions about OREC forms and contracts. OREC frequently receives questions that should be directed to the Oklahoma Association of REALTORS®, such as “What is the REALTOR® Code of Ethics,” and “How do I file an ethics complaint?”
To help consumers better understand the roles of each group, the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) has collaborated with the Association of Real Estate License Law Officials (ARELLO) to create a document explaining the difference between a REALTOR® association and a real estate commission.
The Edmond Board of REALTORS® participates with OAR in their Professional Standards Statewide Program. For more information or to file a complaint please contact OAR directly.
